The owners of this high-rise Lincoln Park condo were frustrated that their closed-off, 1980’s style kitchen hindered their ability to enjoy cooking and entertaining. They considered moving to a more spacious home but were reluctant to leave their lively, centrally located neighborhood. Instead of packing their bags, they decided on a complete kitchen renovation. By removing walls, an open floor plan was created, complete with a city view now visible from the kitchen.
A sophisticated, modern design was achieved with white painted maple cabinetry, a taupe quartz countertop and glass tile backsplash in a mix of matte and shiny finishes. By extending the kitchen countertop into the living area, a chic spot for entertaining and casual dining was created. Open shelving above provides display space while adding to the light and airy ambiance.
