Nothing is better than cozying up by the fire on a cold winter day, especially if your fireplace is fabulous. Creating a special fireplace doesn’t have to be expensive. In this Living Room the mantel and niches were fabricated with drywall. The fireplace surround is covered in ceramic tile while the niche above is painted metallic blue. The niches are the perfect place to display artwork. Metal wall sculptures, a Japanese kite and mirrors create an interesting mix of textures, materials and colors. Direct lighting highlights the entire wall so it becomes a spectacular focal point of the room.
Seymour Sabesin, M.D. is not only a physician, he’s a sculptor. For years he’s enjoyed creating works of art using found scrap metal combined with his own custom pieces which are then welded together and powder coated. His work ranges from small wall sculptures to large stand alone pieces for indoors or outdoors. His abstract work is available in various colors, finishes and sizes.
